Book Review: The Sea of Monsters

The Sea of Monsters (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, #2) The Sea of Monsters by Rick Riordan

My rating: 3 of 5 stars
I liked this book more than the first, and I'd give it 3.5 stars if I could. This book broke away (at least after the first couple chapters) from the Harry Potter format (thank god) and became more unique. I actually liked the "Odysseus" plot line. I also feel like we got a bit more depth in the characters' personalities and relationships (especially between Percy/Tyson and Percy/Annabeth). Nonetheless, some things were still distracting... like I feel like Percy is older than 13, for one thing. It would have been better if he had started out at like 14 or 15 in the first book. At the same time, the book itself still seems young. This book seemed a little more mature than the last though so I have hope for the third.
