Dining Review: Me Jana

My friend Nikki was in town and we found a couple of hours to see each other in D.C.... yay! I took the metro to Arlington to meet up with her and we went to Me Jana for dinner.

The food here was excellent, but maybe overpriced- especially the alcohol. $9 for a tiny glass of white sangria (I wouldn't recommend- it wasn't anything special). I wouldn't mind paying $9 for a larger glass, but this was very small. For dinner we shared a platter of appetizers for two, which our very friendly waiter suggested to us. It was delicious and filling, with lots of things to try- hummus, baba ghanouj, falafel, tabbouleh, grape leaves, and a few other yummy treats. All the food was quite good, but again I thought maybe a bit overpriced ($40) for what essentially was an appetizer sampler. Then again, I suppose if we had ordered all the mezze separately, it would have been a lot more, and it was fun to try everything- so maybe it was a good choice. We were stuffed between the two of us- it's possible you could even split it 3 ways.

At any rate, the service was good and I suppose you just have to pay more for stuff in D.C./Arlington, but I'm not sure I'd regularly pay that much for Lebanese food- even very yummy Lebanese food.
