So, a week or two ago, I found a recipe on Busy Bee Lauren that I couldn't resist trying... it was just too strange to pass up! And I love trying strange things!
First of all, these are the only two ingredients....

Low fat brownie mix and a can of black beans. And a cup of water. No oil, no butter, no eggs.
First, drain the beans and rinse them, then dump them in your blender. Add a cup of water. It looks not so good.

Blend those puppies up. Definitely does not look good now. Nonetheless, add the slop to the brownie mix and stir until well blended.

(much more blended than this).
Taste the batter. Hmm.... tastes like brownies! No enduring flavor of beans.
Cook according to the directions on the package.
Cautiously try them hot from the oven- oh, yum! These are tasty!
I will say that they stay pretty gooey- if you like cakey brownies, these probably aren't for you; these turn out fudge-like. But for a significant reduction in bad fats and a big boost in protein, you won't be able to tell that these have a very secret ingredient in them!
I would have NEVER thought to mix those two ingredients together. I will have to try it out.
ReplyDeleteThat is one of the strangest recipes I have ever seen! Who in the world would ever have thought to try it? But you're right--much healthier than usual brownies. Just don't tell anyone how you make them until after they decide they love them!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds weird, but I always love ideas to make yummy treats more healthy, so I'm definitely gonna give this a try! :)
ReplyDeletejust made these..easy and delicious...thanks!
