I wanted to get this down now, since this schedule is always evolving! This has been our schedule for the last month or so now that I'm back to work. It's pretty hectic, and I'm so thankful for the flexibility of my workplace. Things will probably be a little easier once I stop breastfeeding.
5:30 a.m. : Wake up to feed Nora. She's been making it a little closer to 6 a.m. lately. She goes back to sleep right away after eating.
6:00 a.m.: Pump #1. Pumping is such a pain!
6:15 a.m.: Breakfast, get dressed and ready for the day.
6:30 -8:30 a.m.: Start teleworking. I can usually get through emails and start any data processing or other easy tasks, or work on programming.
8:30 a.m.: Nora usually wakes up and I feed her, get her dressed, and we head out to daycare.
8:45 a.m.- 5:30 p.m: Nora is at daycare. She has 4 bottles at daycare, one every 2 hours.
Meanwhile, if I'm commuting to work:
~10 a.m.: Arrive at work.
10:30 a.m.: Pump #2.
1 pm: Pump #3.
3:30 pm: Pump #4.
4 pm: Leave work and most likely fight awful traffic and stress out.
5-5:30pm (hopefully): Pick up Nora at daycare.
6pm: Feed Nora.
6:30-8 pm: Play, eat dinner with Kevin (he usually puts everything together while I entertain Nora), start cleaning bottles and pump parts while Kevin has the baby for a little while. Every other night we also give Nora a bath.
8 p.m.: Bedtime for Nora. Eats and we read two stories and sing a lullaby or two, then she's swaddled and placed in the crib. She usually passes out right away and sleeps until 5:30am the next morning (knock on wood).
8:30-10pm: Clean all the bottles and pump parts and prepare bottles for daycare (usually takes at least an hour). Do all my interneting. :) Pack lunch.
10 pm.: Pump #5 (see why I hate pumping so much? I have to do it all the dang time!)
10:30-11 pm: Finish interneting and head to bed.
On the days I work from home, I work more like 9 hour days since I don't have the lengthy commute, which helps me pick up any slack from all the pumping sessions. :)
Other working moms- how does your schedule compare?
And a little Nora photo for reading all of this:

I got exhausted just reading this blog entry. You really have amazing stamina!
ReplyDeleteHi Amy! Sounds crazy busy, and I can definitely empathize. My current schedule is: wake up at 5:30 to shower, 6:30 nurse Addie and get her ready, 7/7:30 out the door to work, 7:30/8 arrive at work, 11/11:30 leave work, 11:30/12 lunch with Addie, 12:30 nurse her and she goes down for a nap, I work until she wakes up (3/3:30), we play/ eat snacks/ etc. until 5:30 then I feed her dinner, 6 is her bath time, and 6:30 is her last nursing session and then bedtime, then I work on our dinner and continue doing my writing work until around 10:30/11pm (and sometimes even later). It is never-ending! You'll be happy once you stop pumping - although I must say even still it was bittersweet for me to put away the pump as it marked the end of a stage.

Wow, busy schedule! I don't have one yet, but need to figure one out soon since I will be back to work sooner than I realize. Either way, the working mom schedule is busy busy busy!
