baby
Last week we introduced Nora to the world of "solid" food- or in this case, not-so-solid baby oatmeal (and I apologize for the quality of photos in this post- the lighting is terrible at our table! I also apologize if you're one of those people that, like me, hate seeing pictures of babies with food all over their faces. It's somewhat different when it's my own baby for some reason...).
First I just have to show this picture because she reminds of like the Godfather here:
"I'll make him an offer he can't refuse..."

Daddy giving her her first bite:

First reaction? "What the heck is this stuff?"

"Well, maybe I'll give it another try...."

"Not too bad!"

She actually mostly likes chewing it a bit and then spitting it back out. I don't think she actually eats much of it- I imagine it's pretty bland. After trying it for the last week, we tried sweet potatoes today- those were a real hit! Apparently they were my favorite food as a baby too. She actually did eat almost all that we offered to her. I'm looking forward to trying all kinds of new foods in the coming weeks!
Oh, and I'm making the baby food right now- it's pretty easy and you can freeze a lot of it in ice cube trays, so it ends up being slightly more cost effective than buying it. I've been using the website www.wholesomebabyfood.com. Though we might still buy things like carrot baby food because apparently if you make it yourself you can have some nitrate issues. I think I might try bananas next so that she can have that with her cereal and it will make the cereal taste a little better.

haha. Love it! samw with us and the spitting out.
