This year we discovered an apparently popular Baltimorean holiday pastime- the train garden. I had never heard of this before, but our neighborhood listserve made a mention of a neat sounding one over in Dundalk, so we headed over.
It was held in the volunteer fire department, and only cost $1 per adult- cheap thrill! The line was pretty long to get in, so next year if we're around I think we'll try to go on a different weekend than the weekend before Christmas.
Anyway, it was super cool! Bigger than I expected and with tons of moving parts. For example, the white road in the photo below had cars zooming across it.
Also, the lights in the room would dim every couple of minutes for a nighttime scene:
Car accident! There were so many little scenes like this to look at.
The trains whirring past the Natty Boh factory (another Baltimore landmark):
Nora wasn't a fan of waiting in line, but once we got up to the table, she liked seeing all the trains and cars. I think by next year, she will be really excited about this!

Wow! That's pretty cool!
