-Jumping off the ground with both feet
-Jumping off of furniture (no concept of gravity)
-Insists on putting her socks and shoes on by herself. She likes to try to put her pants on but usually ends up with both legs in one pant leg. Luckily she hasn't figured out how to take her pants off, but she has taken her shirt off a couple of times, and loves to take her socks and shoes off- especially in the car.
-good at picking up after herself; often we don't even have to ask (doubt this phase will last long!)
-can walk up and down stairs by herself (I heavily supervise, though if I try to touch her, she gets mad- Miss Independent right now. Watching her walk down the the stairs is particularly terrifying to me)
-very into her stuffed animals and dolls and having them do things, like sit in her highchair, push them in her car, feed them, brush their hair, have them jump off the furniture- pretty much everything. She has Popo the puppy, Elmo, Mo the Monkey, Baby, Dino, and few other random stuffed friends. She loves to be the one "in charge" of them! Her crib is getting very crowded...
-asks to "draw" all the time- very into coloring right now
-doesn't like to get marker on her hands and insists on washing them right away when she does (though, I think she actually likes washing her hands more than coloring, as she often purposely puts marker on her hands and then asks to wash them)
-very good at puzzles. She learned how to turn the pieces around until they fit.
-Identifies her colors correctly most of the time- especially yellow, brown, and purple.
-regularly speaking in 2-3 word groupings (Favorite ones this month: "Cold outside!", and "Down Bixby!"- yes she likes to scold the cats now. Wonder where she gets that from. And I'll always love "Love you Mama" which she says to us every night now).
-Trying to count. I've heard her say all the numbers up to seven but rarely in order. Mostly she likes to point to things on a page and have me count them.
-recognizes just a couple of letters, like A and B, but she is starting to act more interested in the alphabet (especially when she sees her own name spelled out)
Some funny things:
-Thinks it's really funny to do something "contrary"- like make a sour face for something that's not sour. Then she laughs hysterically when I say (in exaggeration)- "(blank) isn't sour!". Or she'll purposely put her shoes on the wrong foot, and look at me with a smile on her face like "Look what I just did!"
Me, reading book: "When the nighttime shadows fall, mama's going to hear the crickets call."
Nora, hearing the word "call", she puts her hand up like a phone: "Hi, ReeRee!!" (her aunt)
Kevin, reading her Elmo book, pointing to the 3 monsters in a taxi: "Nora, who is in the taxi?"
Nora: "Dada, Mama, and Nora!" (Mama was the big husky monster driving the taxi- thanks Nora!).

Teeth: 10 total
Clothes: 18-24M, some 2T
Diapers: Size 4
I love having a preview of what I'm in for in a little more than a year!! She's so cute and it sounds like she has a lot of personality to keep you two busy! Enjoy!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Danielle! You're in for a treat. :)
DeleteWow, great that she's getting herself dressed, knowing some colors and numbers and doing puzzles! Evan seems to care less about the puzzles right now (he gets easily frustrated when things don't fit right), and counting isn't even on his mind I'm sure. I think it's funny how she also loves to wash her hands. We've been teaching Evan the steps to going to the bathroom (in the hopes he'll start potty training soon) and he LOVES the hand washing step. I guess it's a good thing for now. :)
ReplyDeleteYes, hand washing can only be a good thing since probably soon they'll think it's punishment. :)
