Whew, it has been a long few weeks. Overnight rotation was not so much fun for me- pretty lonely- and by the time I got Nora into bed, I was usually pretty exhausted, and blogging just hasn't been happening. However, I have watched a lot of Scandal :).
But, we were given a wonderful blessing this holiday weekend- Kevin thought he would have to work the whole thing, but on Wednesday afternoon, through some kind of last minute residency miracle (and also poor planning and lack of communication), Kevin ended up with Thursday- Saturday completely off! It was wonderful.
Anyway, the day of Thanksgiving we went to my parents' house- where my mom cooked up a fabulous Thanksgiving dinner for us, and my dad made cocktails. We went on a beautiful walk (maybe slightly too long for the two year old contingency). I even got a nap in. It was a lovely day!
My mom can always get a smile out of Nora:
My dad started up the fire in the backyard, and it was a nice night to sit around it for a little while.
Firelight photos! A bit tricky but I love the orangish glow. Nana and Papa gave Nora this Minnie Mouse you can dress up and she just loves it (though she's probably had about 10 tantrums about either not being able to get the shoes or the hairbow on correctly... she's slowly getting better though).
Nora and Kevin. Seriously... SO happy he was with us for the holiday.
Some of the yummy rolls my mom made! The recipe is from Annie's Eats. Served with herbed butter- they were great. We also had roasted chicken instead of turkey, stuffing, scalloped potatoes, sweet potatoes with marshmallows, cranberry relish (ooh, I wish I had some to eat right now, I love that stuff!), and green bean casserole (Nora loved that dish the best!). And cranberry ginger pear pie for dessert. It was all so good. My mom is a wonderful chef.
So much to be thankful for this year- and so happy to celebrate my favorite holiday at home with family.
The next day we headed up to the mountains to see Kevin's family- more on that later!
